OUR STORY

Dr. Jared Kalina and his wife, Linda Lee, are proud to deepen their roots by establishing their medical practice in the Oak Park, River Forest, Forest Park, and the surrounding community. The story of how they located their office space is a special one…one that shows the power of relationships.

Linda was raised in Forest Park. Her Dad, Geung Goo Lee, owned and operated Lee’s Auto Service, the Mobil gas station on the corner of Madison Street and Des Plaines Avenue in Forest Park for 34 years. He retired in February 2006. To this day, dozens of people from the community and friends of patients share countless stories of how Mr. Lee would let them fill their gas tanks and get their cars repaired at no charge, or they would pay in increments, whatever they could afford at the time—so that they could get to and from work. Mr. Lee was forever grateful for the opportunity to operate a small business and raise his family in Forest Park. That loyalty and sense of gratitude were not lost on Dr. Kalina and Linda when they were looking to purchase an office space for the medical pain management practice.

For years, Linda’s Mom, Seung Ja Lee, was a patient of Dr. Arnold Clevs, the dentist who owned and practiced in the building at 334 Circle Avenue in Forest Park. Dr. Clevs’ wife, Batia, was his office manager for 25 years before Dr. Clevs retired. When Linda’s Mom came in for her last dental appointment with Dr. Clevs, she inquired about the office space. Mrs. Lee called Linda right away. Dr. Kalina and Linda met with the Clevs and visited the space that same afternoon. They also learned, while talking during the office tour, that Dr. Arnold Clevs and Dr. Kalina’s grandfather, Allan Hindin, both grew up in small communities in Lithuania. What a small world!

Dr. Kalina and Linda have become dear friends with the Clevs.  With the help of their friend, Mike Hedges and his crew, the office space was quickly renovated into the lovely space that it is today.  In November 2017, Kalina Pain Institute opened its doors.  It is their hope that the power of relationships continues to make the space a good one–where people can heal.
